About Afternoon Pause…

Hi, I’m Maelle.

I’ve worked in sales and the corporate world since 2019, and Afternoon Pause has been in my head since 2021, but… I kept putting it off because the timing was never right… until now!

After a really difficult experience working at a recruitment company, I realised I didn’t want to stay stuck doing something that didn’t feel right. So I finally decided to back myself and build the thing I’d been thinking about for years.

That’s how Afternoon Pause started.

I’ve always loved hosting, baking and making things feel special. My French background has definitely shaped how I approach food and with Afternoon Pause, I try to bring a little bit of that into each box.

It’s classic English afternoon tea and catering, but with small French touches here and there, just thoughtful flavours and attention to detail.

Each box is freshly prepared from my registered home kitchen in Kent.

Whether you’re celebrating something big or just want a quiet treat at home, I hope you will enjoy it.

  • I recommend ordering at least 2 days in advance to guarantee availability.
    If you need something sooner the next day, feel free to message — I’ll always try my best.

    For platters, breakfast & brunch 3 days minimum are required.

    2 weeks at least for corporate catering.

  • Yes, I offer local delivery in Deal, CT14 area for free.

    £3 delivery fee for Sandwich and Dover - free over £40 (message us directly to arrange)

    £5 delivery fee for Thanet, Canterbury, and Folkestone - free over £40 (message us directly to arrange)

  • Yes — Afternoon Pause is perfect for garden parties, baby showers, birthdays and relaxed gatherings. Or just a simple treat during the week for yourself or someone you love.

    I cater for small to medium events wether you are 5 or 50.

  • Please get in touch before ordering if you have specific dietary requirements or allergies.

    For our afternoon tea & picnic boxes, options for GF, Vegan and Vegetarian are available to order via website.


    I will always try to accommodate where possible, but all food is prepared in a kitchen that handles allergens.

  • Payment details will be provided at the time of booking if via email, Facebook or Instagram.

    If you order on the website, it will be by card at checkout.


    Orders are confirmed once payment has been received.
