About Afternoon Pause…

Hi, I'm Maelle, the founder of Afternoon Pause.

Afternoon Pause started in 2026, but the idea had been in my head for years.

After working in sales and the corporate world since 2019, I eventually decided it was time to build something of my own that can fit around my family life.

That's how Afternoon Pause began.

Being French naturally influences what I create, with small French touches here and there, thoughtful flavours and attention to detail. Afternoon Tea Boxes were where Afternoon Pause started, but the business has grown quite a bit since then.

From a small gathering at home to catering for 60 guests, I create menus around the occasion, the people you're feeding and, where possible, your budget.

Everything is freshly prepared from my registered home kitchen in Kent.

I'm a registered food business with a 5-star food hygiene rating, and I hold my Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety certification.

I currently deliver across Kent, with selected services available further afield.

Why Afternoon Pause?

Because catering doesn't always need to be complicated.

Sometimes you need a few boxes for a birthday. Sometimes you need breakfast delivered to a bridal party. Sometimes you need a buffet for 30 people and don't want to spend the day making sandwiches.

That's where Afternoon Pause comes in.

  • It depends on the type of catering you're looking for.

    Afternoon Tea Boxes and Platters: Please allow at least 1 week's notice. Earlier is always better, especially for weekends and larger orders.

    Brunch, Buffets, Corporate Catering & larger events: These require more planning, so please get in touch as early as possible. I recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance, although more notice is appreciated for larger or more bespoke events.

    If you're looking for something at shorter notice, please get in touch anyway — I may still be able to accommodate your order depending on availability.

    • Deal & CT14: FREE

    • Sandwich & Dover: £3 — FREE over £40

    • Birchington, Thanet, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Canterbury & Folkestone: £5 — FREE over £40

    • Maidstone, Ashford: £8 - FREE over £50

    • Further afield: personalised delivery fee

    • Standard delivery fees apply to most smaller orders. Larger catering orders, including buffets and corporate events, may have a different delivery fee depending on the location and size of the order.

    • Delivery fees and areas can vary depending on the service, so please get in touch if you're outside the areas listed above.

  • Yes. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available across many of our services.

    Please let me know about any dietary requirements or allergies when you enquire so I can advise you on the most suitable options.


    I will always try to accommodate where possible, but all food is prepared in a kitchen that handles allergens.

    • For events and larger catering orders, a 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due 7 days before your event.

    • For smaller orders and Afternoon Tea Boxes, payment is required in full when booking.

  • Simply get in touch by email or through the enquiry form with your date, location, number of guests and the type of catering you're looking for.

  • Yes! Afternoon Pause caters for events from small gatherings of 4 to larger celebrations of up to 60 guests.

    Depending on your event, we can provide Afternoon Tea, brunch, savoury & sweet buffets, platters, sharing boards or corporate catering.

    Menus can be adapted to suit your guest numbers, dietary requirements and budget. Just get in touch with your date, location and number of guests, and I'll suggest the best options for your event.
